Rick Ferkel, 84, of Tiffin, Ohio passed away Monday morning, January 01, 2024.

On February 19, 1939, in Fremont, Ohio; he was born to Lawrence and Velma (Binger) Ferkel.   On July 30, 1979, he married Cathy Cramer.

Survivors include his wife Cathy of over 49 years; daughter, Felicia Krippe of Allentown, PA; sons, Tony (Kim) Ferkel of Los Angeles, CA and Ricky (Kylee) Ferkel of Clare, MI; grandchildren, Heather, Nicole and Leanne Finken, Lauren (Troy) Fassel, and Kai, Jake, Kinley, Riggs, Rhett, and Reese Ferkel; six great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and former wife, Patricia Hartline.

He was predeceased by his parents; and sister, Joanne (Robert) Avers.

Rick started his professional racing career at age 26, building, maintaining, and racing his own car.  He was known as the "Ohio Traveler" winning over 400 feature events, was an original member of the World of Outlaws, and traveled coast to coast as a driver and crew chief with many professional teams. He was a member of the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame, Fremont Hall of Fame, Hancock County Hall of Fame, Atomic Speedway Hall of Fame, and North Dakota Hall of Fame.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 04, 2024, from 3-8:00 P.M. at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory and Friday, January 05, 2024, from 10-11:00 A.M. at New Beginnings Assembly of God, 733 N. Sandusky St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883.  His funeral will begin at 11:00 A.M. at the church with his son, Ricky, officiating and a meal following.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame, Fremont Hall of Fame, or made to the family.
