Obituary

Rita M. Hammer, 93, of Bascom, passed away on Wednesday evening, August 3, 2016 at St. Francis Home.

She was born on September 8, 1922, in St. Henry, Ohio, to Anthony H. and Victoria (Droesch) Streacker. On October 22, 1945, she married William McDougal and he preceded her in death. On April 6, 1961, she married Herbert Hammer and he also preceded her in death.

Survivors include six sons, David (Sandy) Hammer of Perrysburg, Thomas (Carol) Hammer of Alvada, William (Diane) Hammer and Donald (Cathe) Hammer, both of Tiffin, Roger (Deb) Hammer of Fostoria and Michael (Vicki) Hammer of Harpster; seven daughters, Diana Phoenix of Texas, Lou (Leonard) Coleman of Napoleon, Patie (David) Elchert of Virginia, Mary Alice (Kenneth) Baker of Rising Sun, Eileen (John, Jr.) Hoover and Barbara (Randy) Fry, both of Tiffin and Lois (Jim) Boatman of Tennessee; 37 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Geralyn Hammer of Tiffin; and brothers, James (Eleanor) Streacker of Tiffin and Edward (Mary Ann) Streacker of Fremont.

She was also preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Hammer; brothers, Herbert Streacker, Earl Streacker and Paul Streacker; and one grandchild, Karla Sierra.

Rita was a member of SS Patrick and Andrew Church, Bascom and she enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting, playing cards with family and friends and she loved her flower gardens.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at SS Patrick and Andrew Catholic Church with Rev. Timothy Kummerer officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.

Friends may visit and share stories with the family from 6-8:00 P.M. on Friday, August 5, 2016 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424 and from 10 A.M. until the time of Mass on Saturday at SS Patrick & Andrew Catholic Church, Bascom.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Home, SS Patrick & Andrew Catholic Church or to the Alzheimer's Association.
