Rita Mae Schwab, 78, of Tiffin, passed away Wednesday evening, June 18, 2025, at St. Francis Home.
She was born in Tiffin, Ohio on February 04, 1947, to Frank and Philomena (Colatruglio) Longo. On October 23, 1971, she married Edward J. Schwab II.
Rita is survived by her children Angela (Erik) Belcher of Napoleon and Edward "Rocco" Schwab of Tiffin. Six grandchildren: Evan, Aricka, Averie, Bryce, Blaine and Maddox. She and Ed were proud Godparents to Nikki Hills of Tiffin, Dani Maxwell of Monroe, MI; Brooke Dixon and Billy Krzyzak, both of Tiffin, Mary McDermont. They also were "adopted parents" to Shawn Stinchcomb of Virginia Beach. Two sisters, Constance Archer, and Rose Marie Mangus, both of Tiffin.
In addition to her husband, Ed, and her parents, Rita was preceded in death by her brothers, Frank and Leonard Longo; sisters, Sister Marianne, RSM/C, Joanna Elchert, and Carol Jean Longo.
Rita was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and a 1965 graduate of Calvert High School. She was a great baker, loved family pie day, and collecting purses. She was close with her sisters and loved her grandchildren and attending their activities. Rita welcomed anybody into her home.
Friends may visit with the family from 10:30-11:30 A.M. on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424.
Her Funeral Mass will be at 12:00 P.M. Noon, on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Matthew Rader officiating. Burial will follow at the parish cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church or to Calvert High School.
