Rita Marie Reis, 54, of Tiffin, passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2015, at James Cancer Hospital in Columbus.

Rita was born on February 7, 1961, in Tiffin, to the late John A. and Loretta (Culver) Reis.

Survivors include her mother, Loretta Reis of Tiffin; sister, Susan (Charles) Sherman; two brothers, Timothy J. (Amor) Reis and Rodney L. (Char) Reis, all of Tiffin.

At the age of three and one half years, Rita started at the Karrick School for the Handicapped in Fostoria. At the age of ten, she attended the Ann Karlson School for the Handicapped in Jamestown, North Dakota. After eight years, she returned home and graduated in 1984 from Mohawk High School. She was employed at the Seneca County School of Opportunity for several years.

Rita led a full and interesting life due to her FiancAC.', Carl Jordan. She enjoyed reading, typing letters, watching TV and her two pets, Boo the Rabbit and Tom the Cat. She loved to joke, laugh and have a good time with everyone. Pain was her constant companion although she would only admit to it by shaking her head yes, when asked. Her concern always was for others. The nurses and doctors at the James Cancer Center were amazed that she worried about her mother and had not a thought for herself. People who were lucky enough to know her realized what a truly exceptional person she was, although she did not regard herself as such.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at 10:00 AM in the Activities Center at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Friends may visit and share stories with the family on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 from 3-7 PM at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory. A Christian Wake will begin at 2:30 PM.

Memorial contributions may be made to Calvert Catholic Schools, St. Francis Home or to a charity of the donor's choice.
