Robert G. Brandt, 85, of Tiffin, passed away on Monday morning, September 14, 2015, at St. Francis Home.
He was born on March 9, 1930, in Toledo, Ohio, to William A. and Clara (Wangler) Brandt. On May 20, 1950 in St. Aloysius, Republic, he married Alma Depinet.
Survivors include his wife, Alma of Tiffin; two sons, James (Diana) Brandt of Tiffin and Donald (Stephanie) Brandt, of Findlay; three daughters, Diane (Joe) Strausbaugh of New Riegel, Rebecca Brandt of Tiffin and Lesa (Don) Walter of Fostoria; grandchildren, Dr. Jeffrey (Wesley) Sasser-Brandt; Jamie (Miranda) Brandt and their children, Kylie and Jamison; Angela (Joe) Gochenour; Nicole Strausbaugh and her children, Cameran, Zane and Skylar Cover; Joe (Kim) Strausbaugh and their children, Kaya and Addison; Jason (Michelle) Brandt and their children Jayda and Maddox; Keisha (Matt) Shawber and their children, Taylor, Payton and Haley; Bud (Lyndsay) Schmidutz and their children, Brennan and Hudson; Jessica (Merl) Stanley; Jenna Brandt and her child, Kacie; Jeanise Hoeffel; Nathan (Jessica) Shellhouse and their children, Xavier and Kyle; Dylan Shellhouse and his child, Kendyll; and Michelle Hister and her children, Tyler and Austin Fry.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Joseph Brandt; sister, Rose Mary Luman; one grandchild, Bradley James Brandt and one great grandchild, Ryan McKinley Brandt.
Robert retired as a tool and dye journeyman from Skiltech Machine Tool and Lab after 26 years and also worked many odd jobs. He was a member of Sts. Patrick and Andrew Catholic Church, the Catholic Knights of Ohio and was an honorary member of the Bascom Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed traveling; shrimping in Florida, hunting fishing, playing cards with his neighbors, camping at Meadowbrook, Walnut Grove and traveling to area campgrounds.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, September 18, 2015 at Sts. Patrick and Andrew Parish, St. Andrew's Chapel, Liberty with Rev. Timothy Kummerer officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 15 minutes prior to Mass. Burial will follow in Seneca Memory Gardens.
Friends may visit with the family from 2-4:00 P.M. and 6-8:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883. A Christian Wake Service will begin at 1:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Flat Rock Homes and Care Center, Heartland Hospice or to the Bascom Fire and EMS.
