Robert E. "Bob" Smith, 86, of Tiffin, passed away Friday afternoon, April 13, 2012 at Mercy Tiffin Hospital.

On September 19, 1925 in Pleasant Township, he was born to Louis J. and Frances (Arbogast) Smith. He married Clarice M. Keller on August 28, 1947 in St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife Clarice of 64 years; two daughters, Cherie (Lewis) Altreche of Temecula, CA; Patricia (Steve) Dickey of Long Beach, CA; three grandchildren, Eric and Todd Grady and Shane Riedel and one great grandchild, Madeleine Grady, brother, Leo (Betty) Smith of Tiffin; sisters, Catherine Tiell and Rosemary Widman both of Tiffin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Clarence, Bernard, and Richard Smith, sisters, Rita King, Dorothy Frankart, Helen Hammer and Marjorie Adams.

Bob was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a WWII veteran serving with the 125th U.S. Army Air Force Base Unit from 1945-1947. He enjoyed running his own business; R.E. Smith Builders, for over 35 years as a contractor and developer. After retirement, his hobbies included traveling and camping all over the United States. Bob was a past member of Tiffin Elks 94, VFW Post 6067 in Green Springs and Moose Lodge 846 in Tiffin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery with military honors conducted by the Green Springs VFW.

Friends may visit with the family on Monday, April 16, 2012 from 4-8 PM at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory. A Wake service will begin at 3:45 PM at the funeral home.
