Robert Donald Nicolas, 95, of Tiffin, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, September 25, 2018 at Volunteers of America Autumnwood Care Center.

He was born on August 21, 1923, in Buffalo, NY, to Jacob and Eugenie (Sibold) Nicolas.  On June 30, 1952, he married Claralice Brethauer.

Survivors include his daughter, Barbara Jean (Donald) Merryfield of Republic; grandchildren, Melinda and Aaron; and great-grandchildren, Max, Samantha and Natalie.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Claralice; grandson, Gregory Merryfield; brothers, Jacob Nicolas and George Nicolas; and sister, Eugenia Lampert.

Robert graduated high school in Buffalo, New York.  He served in World War II from 1942 to 1945, receiving three battle stars for his service in Germany.  Robert worked at Westinghouse for 34 years; retiring in 1984.  He was a member of United Church of Christ of Ebenezer and he and his wife, Eugenie enjoyed traveling to Europe.

Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Buffalo, New York.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
