Robin S. Van Camp, 75, retired firefighter and lifelong Tiffin resident, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2016.
He is survived by former wife, Cindra J. Mullins; children, Dorothea Van Camp and husband Jefrey Heyne, Joe Van Camp and wife Alison Goebel, Daniel Van Camp and wife Celia Van Camp; a sister, Becky Van Camp; four grandchildren, Denver, Andrew, Brianne and Bailee Van Camp; close personal friends, Tammie and Jon Queen and their children, Katina and Tyler Brown, Crystal and Michael Foster, Candice Smith, Alexandria Queen and Jordan Queen.
He was preceded in death by parents, C. Thomas and C. Dorothea Van Camp and brother, Thomas Van Camp.
Robby graduated from Columbian High School in 1959 and was a career firefighter with 25 years of service. During that time, he ate a lot of smoke, drove big, loud trucks and played many hands of euchre. He once received recognition from the mayor for saving a man hanging from an antenna tower. He also was pictured on the front page of The Advertiser-Tribune newspaper rescuing a white poodle from the ice on the Sandusky River. He enjoyed sports, traveling and photography. He was a loyal Cleveland Indians fan and tolerant Cleveland Browns fan.
Happy Travels. He will be missed.
His funeral will begin at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 8, 2016, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory with the Rev. Jeff Lanzer officiating.
Friends may visit with the family 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, 2016, at the funeral home and also at 10 a.m. Monday until the time of the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Tiffin Fire Department Toys for Tots.
