Roger R. Welter, 78 of rural Tiffin peacefully passed away at his residence surrounded by his family on December 27th.
Roger was born in Tiffin, on January 13, 1938 to Raymond A. and Ruth C. (Miller) Welter. He married Roberta "Bobbie" Deibert on June 14, 1958.
Survivors include his wife, Bobbie, daughters Julie Romanko and Patti (Tim) Cartwright of Tiffin, Lori (Jon) Bour of Cape Coral, Florida; sons, Jim (Joan) Welter of Freedom, Pennsylvania and Mike (Malinda) Welter of Tiffin; and sister, Kathleen (Joseph) Frankart of Bascom. Roger had 12 grandchildren, including Derick and Daniel Romanko; Avery and Noah Welter; Olivia and Jace Welter; Jordan, Devin and Molli Cartwright; Austin, Nathan and Lilah Bour.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and his sister, Carol Falter.
Roger began working part time while in high school at Lange's Gas Station and cleaning the IRS office. While in college, he worked for Paul Weott Excavating; what he truly enjoyed. He graduated from Calvert in 1956 and from Tiffin University 1960.
Roger worked at National Machinery for eighteen years. He loved his job and the great employees. Eventually, he decided to become self-employed and purchased the O'Connell Company which he expanded to Fostoria and served on the board of the Ohio Redimix Association. Eventually, he expanded his love for the concrete business to Florida as he founded the Florida Concrete Service. Next came the birth of W&W trucking company, multiple rentals and of all things, a beauty shop in New Riegel.
He dearly loved his family and enjoyed his grandchildren and all of their extracurricular activities. Raising beautiful Labrador Retrievers for years was the highlight of his retirement.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, January 2, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Szybka and Rev. Gary Walters con-celebrating. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family from 2-6:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 1, 2017 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424. A Christian Wake Service will begin at 1:30 P.M.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, St. Francis or to a charity of the donor's choice.
