Obituary

Ronald E. "Ron" Brown, 72, of Tiffin went to be with the Lord on February 20, 2011 at The Ohio State University Medical Institute in Columbus surrounded by his family.

He was born September 5, 1938 in Continental, OH; the son of the late Wynona (Moran) and Woodrow Brown. He was the oldest of 5 siblings. He married Yvonne Joan Swander on February 8, 1959 in the United Brethren Church in Bloomville.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Yvonne Joan Brown, daughters, Rhonda (Kent) Margraf of Cardington, OH; Tammy (Donald "Pete") Smith of Sycamore; Terri (John) Hampshire of Bloomville; Lesa (Rusty) Latona of Tiffin; 7 grandchildren, Olivia and Lauren Margraf, Kaitlyn Smith, Tarah and Jacob Hacker, Dominic and Anna Latona; 3 sisters, Judy Burns of Findlay; Janet (Jack) Nye and Sharon Caudill both of Fostoria, and a brother, Gary (Mary) Brown of Fostoria.

Ron was a member for the past 9 years and Elder for the past 3 years at Christ's Church at Tiffin. He also served as a Deacon at First Christian Church where he had been a member for over 30 years. Ron graduated from Fostoria High School in 1956 and joined the U.S. Marine Corp., serving from 1956 to 1958.

He was employed at Atlas/Cummings in Fostoria as a Quality Control Engineer for 28 years and was certified by the American Society for Quality Control. After his retirement, he also worked for Progress Plastics and General Motors in Detroit.

He was a Boy Scout troop leader and Junior Achievement Advisor and his hobbies included coaching baseball, camping with his family, and cross country skiing. He was a talented wood worker and artist, drawing cartoons and writing in Old English script.

A funeral service will be Friday, February 25, 2011 at Christ's Church at Tiffin at 11:00 am with Rev. Terry Jones officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the United Veteran's Council at the church. There will be no burial at this time.

Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, February 24, 2011 from 2-4 and 6-8 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin.
