Roy R. Krause, 76, formerly of Carey, died Sunday morning, February 8, 2009, at St. Francis Home.
On April 15, 1932 he was born to Roy and Mary (Klammer) Krause in Lorain. On July 24, 1954 he married Mary Borer of Tiffin, and they later divorced. On November 6, 1982 he married Genevieve Ickes and she is deceased.
Survivors include daughters Christine (Albert) Eckel of Tiffin, Kathleen (James) Butzier of Streetsboro, Tina (Kenneth) Edler of Upper Sandusky, Victoria (Peter) Siegle of Clyde, sons John (Lora) Krause of Tiffin, Robert Krause of Houston, TX; a brother, Richard (Margaret) Krause of Lorain, 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, step-daughters, Diane Weller of Fostoria, Sharon Weller of Columbus, Teri Cassidy of Upper Sandusky, step-sons, Ron (Paula) Weller of Racine, WI; Tom Ickes of Carey.
Preceding him in death are his parents, wife Genevieve, a sister MaryAlice Virant, and one grandchild.
Roy was a Korean War Veteran, serving in the U.S. Army and he was a member of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey. He retired from International Cargo in 1984 after working there for 15 years in Kenton as a welder. Roy owned Roy Krause Lawn Service in Carey for 10 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #344, Eagles in Carey, and Carey Conservation. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, playing cards, especially poker. He loved to play jokes on people, enjoyed watching old Western movies, and he was a big fan of boxing. In his spare time he collected guns and knives and loved spending time with his dog, Bo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30am, Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at St. Francis Home Chapel in Tiffin, with Rev. Kieran Kay officiating. There is no burial at this time.
Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice Care or to St. Francis Home.
