Royal E. Bush, 89, of Tiffin, died Monday evening, September 21, 2009, at Ruffing Family Care Center.
March 7, 1920, he was born in Wyandotte, MI., to Ernest A. and Edna H. (Bondie) Bush. November 25, 1943, he married Betty R. Lambert in Wyandotte, MI.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Betty, two sons, Daniel R. (Jane) Bush, David E. (Colleen) Bush, a daughter, Melanie R. (Denis) Reinhart, all of Tiffin, and 6 grandchildren.
Preceding him in death along with his parents is a brother, Harold Bush and three sisters, Edna Brown, Pearl Lennin and Virginia Newberry.
Royal graduated from Roosevelt High School in Wyandotte MI, and attended Wayne State University in Detroit. He was a graduate of Hartung School of Aircraft Engineering and Design in Detroit.
He worked in the Aircraft Engineering and Design Department of the Ford Motor Company's Bomber plant in Willow Run Michigan, during WWII. In 1940 he joined the Masonic Lodge 270 and was a member of the Shrine Club of Wyandotte, MI. Royal was president of the Tiffin Chamber of Commerce and served on the Board of Directors of Mercy Hospital. He was also a member of the Board of Directors at St. Francis Rehabilitation Hospital in Green Springs and was a member of the Masonic Lodge 77.
He was on the Board of Wyandotte General Hospital. Royal served on the Greater Wyandotte Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Directors of Wyandotte Savings Bank. He was president of E.A. Bush Land Development Company in Michigan.
Royal joined his father and brother, Harold, in E.A. Bush Motor Sales, a General Motors dealership founded in 1920 by his father in Wyandotte, MI. In 1960, they purchased the Sattler Chevrolet Company in Tiffin. In 1961, a new building was built on West Market and was called E.A. Bush Chevrolet Inc.
His Funeral Service will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 26, 2009, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH, 44883, 419-447-2424, with Rev. Tom Goossens, Chaplain, officiating. Entombment will follow in Seneca Memory Garden Mausoleum.
Friends may visit with the family 2-4 and 6-8 PM, Friday, September 25, 2009, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions can be made to Heartland Hospice, Ruffing Family Care Center, Salvation Army or a charity of the donor's choice.
