Russell 'Russ' Weaver, 82, of Tiffin, died Thursday, July 2, 2009 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo.
On May 31, 1927 he was born to Martin and Pearl (Myers) Weaver in Lykens. On March 10, 1956 he married Mary Lou LeCrone and she survives in Tiffin.
Survivors include his wife, daughter, Barbara Jane (Thomas) Beidelschies of Sycamore, two sons, Dennis Weaver Sr. of Bucyrus and David (Kimberly) Weaver of Tiffin, eight grandchildren, Christina Voorheis, Melissa Searls, Jonathan Beidelschies, JR, Jennifer Weaver, Timothy, Tyler, and Trevor Weaver, four great-grandchildren, Brandie and Hanna Voorheis, Noah Beidelschies, Danielle Searls,and a brother in law, Robert Vesey of Green Springs.
Preceding him in death are his parents, and two sisters, Martha J. Althar and Lessie Vesey.
Russ, a 29 year cancer survivor, was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Russ was an independent truck driver for over 40 years, later retiring. Russ was also a former member of F.A.S.H. He was a present member of Interprise Lodge #579, Sycamore, Warpole Chapter #366, Order of the Eastern Star, Upper Sandusky, and past patron of Wm. Myers Chapter #196, McCuthenville. Russ was also a member of the VFW in Fremont Post #2947 and former member of the Fremont American Legion, Post #121. He was an avid woodcarver, where he enjoyed carving at the Allen Eiry Senior Center. Russ enjoyed boating and fishing on Lake Erie.
A Funeral Service will be 11am, Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home, with Rev. Dr. Louis Dorsch officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, with Military Graveside Services provided by the United Veterans Council.
Friends may visit with the family, 4pm-8pm, Monday, July 6, 2009 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH 44883, (419) 447-2424. Masonic Services will be held at 7:30pm and Eastern Star Services at 7:45pm at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ; Warpole Chapter #366, Order of the Eastern Star, Upper Sandusky; or to the American Cancer Society.
