Ruth G. Brickner, 100, of Tiffin, passed away Wednesday evening, April 4, 2012 at St. Francis Home, surrounded by her family.

She was born on September 14, 1911, in Liberty Township, to Sterling and Emma (Ritter) Zimmerman. On February 9, 1929, in St. Wendelin Catholic Church, she married Laurent J. Brickner, and they were married for 70 years. He preceded her in death on March 28, 1999.

Survivors include three sons, Dr. Eugene Brickner of Copley, Ohio, James H. (Charlotte) Brickner and Larry (Vicky) Brickner, both of Tiffin, Ohio; three daughters, Patricia (Robert Putnam) Smith, Phyllis (Al Dryfuse) Kuhn and Pamela (Paul) Bonnell, all of Tiffin, Ohio; one sister, June Kern of Fostoria, Ohio; sister-in-law, Ruth Swisher; 24 grandchildren; 49 great grandchildren; and 35 great, great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Laurent; three brothers, Dale, Beryl and Duane "Buddy" Zimmerman; sister, Dessa Minch; and two grandchildren, Jeff Brickner and Mark Burns.

Ruth was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. She volunteered at St. Vincent De Paul's. Her biggest enjoyment was playing cards. She also enjoyed playing scrabble, crocheting, making comforters, sewing and gardening.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, April 9, 2012 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Roemmele officiating. Burial will follow in Seneca Memory Garden. The Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass.

Friends may visit with the family from 4-7:00 P.M. on Sunday, April 8, 2012 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424. A Christian Wake Service will begin at 6:45 P.M.
