Ruth I. Brill, 97, of Tiffin, passed away peacefully, on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at The Willows at Tiffin.

She was born on February 20, 1924, in Clinton Twp., Gilbert and Hazel (Taylor) Garland.  On June 6, 1942, in Philadelphia, she married John M. Brill and he preceded her in death in 1976.

Survivors include her son, Tom (Annette) Brill of Tiffin; two daughters, Jane (Charles, Jr.) Hepler and Julie (Steve) Williams, both of Tiffin; four grandchildren, David (Lindsay) Steinhauer, Sheri Steinhauer, Matt (Sarah) Brill and Kelly (Doug) DeTray; seven great grandchildren; three great, great grandchildren; and brother, Carl Garland of Defiance.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; and son, Jerry W. Brill in 1968; and sister, Edna M. Walters in 2013.

Ruth attended a one room school for eight years and graduated from Columbian High School in 1942.  She was a member of the "42 ^nd Club" with some girls with her graduating class who met regularly for over 70 years.  She drove school bus for the School of Opportunity for 10 years and Tiffin City Schools for 4 years.  She retired after 13 years in the Title Department of the Seneca County Clerk of Courts office.  Ruth was past treasurer and membership secretary of Pleasant Ridge United Methodist Church where she was a member.

An avid genealogist, she was a charter member of the Seneca County Genealogical Society where she was a past president and recording secretary.  Also, a gold member of the First Families of Seneca County, a member of the Ohio Genealogical Society and First Families of Ohio.

She enjoyed traveling, reading, sewing, knitting, crocheting and attending her grandchildren and great grandchildren's school and sporting events.

Her Funeral Service will be at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424 with Rev. Gary Hicks officiating.  Burial will follow in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery (Egberts), rural Tiffin.

Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the Service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Seneca County Genealogical Society, Tiffin-Seneca Public Library, Promedica Heartland Hospice or to a charity of the donor's choice.
