Obituary

Ruth Ann Wiese, 78, of Gibsonburg and formerly of Tiffin, passed away Saturday evening, September 10, 2016 at Fremont Memorial Hospital.

On April 23, 1938 in Cleveland, she was born to Kurt and Clara (Young) Helber. She married Glen T. "Tom" Wiese on June 1, 1957 and he preceded her in death on July 31, 2001.

Ruth is survived by her children, David "Doc" (June) Wiese of Tiffin, Brian (Fran) Wiese of Gibsonburg, Karen (John) Clapper of East Canton and Daniel (Traci) Wiese of Genoa; seven grandchildren, Justin (Heather) and Jacob Wiese, Andrew Wiese, Cameron and Kirstie Clapper, Christopher Wiese and Brittany McCartney; brothers, Carl, Kurt, Jr., and Robert Helber; sister, Margaret (Kenneth) Walko; and close friends, Denny and Elaine Berkey of Kendallville, IN.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a brother, Myron Helber.

Ruth graduated from Maple Heights High School in 1956 and moved to Tiffin in 1966 where she became involved in the community, volunteering her time to many groups and organizations throughout the years and where she was a bookkeeper for Heidelberg College and later for Tiffin Developmental Center. Ruth and her husband Tom moved to Kendallville, IN in 1987 where she volunteered as a court appointed special advocate for the children of Noble County and for the Mid-America Windmill Museum in Kendallville, IN. After Tom's death, she moved to Gibsonburg to be closer to her children and grandchildren.

She enjoyed gardening, reading, collecting owls, boating and fishing on Lake Erie, and spending time with family and friends at their East Harbor cottage. Most of all, Ruth was a very proud and caring wife, mother, and grandmother.
