Sarah Jane Maistros, 56, of Flat Rock, OH passed away Sunday, December 21, 2025, at her home at Flat Rock Care Center.
She was born February 7, 1969, to John A. and Sandra J. Maistros.
Sarah is survived by her brother, Michael (Sharon) Maistros, of Xenia, OH; sisters, Susan (Gary) Larsen, of Fairbanks, AK and Rebecca (Mark) Nelson, of Bowling Green, OH; three nephews; four nieces; two great nephews; and a great niece.
Sarah was preceded in death by her parents and by her brother, Andrew Maistros.
Sarah grew up in Tiffin where she enjoyed being outdoors. She liked to ride a bike, jump on the trampoline, swing, and go swimming. She enjoyed meeting new people everywhere she went. She loved telling jokes and could get anyone laughing. Sarah attended the School of Opportunity where she enjoyed being a cheerleader for the Seneca Arrows. Sarah also participated in the Special Olympics. She played volleyball, basketball, and participated in track. She graduated from the School of Opportunity in 1991.
Sarah moved to Flat Rock Care Center around that time. In no time at all it felt like home. Sarah enjoyed living there, making friends, and participating in lots of activities over the years. She was involved in the Aktion Club through Kiwanis and she was a member of the Residents Rights Committee of Flat Rock. Sarah always looked forward to annual events including Race at the Rock and Night to Shine. She enjoyed going to work, shopping, getting her hair cut, drinking pop, cracking jokes with friends, and the Ohio State Buckeyes (especially their sweatshirts). In nice weather, Sarah enjoyed sitting in the sunshine in her summer hats. Sarah had an infectious personality and a zest for life.
A funeral service will be at 11:30 A.M. on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH 44883, (419) 447-2424 with Chaplain Lee Stull officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family from 10:30 A.M. until the time of the Service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Flat Rock Homes, Inc. or to the Seneca County Opportunity Center.
