Obituary

Sharon Corrine Richey, 83, of Tiffin, passed away on Friday, February 28, 2025 at Mercy Health-Tiffin Hospital.

She was born on February 14, 1942, in Tiffin, Ohio to Robert and Violet L. (Dull) Melroy.

She is survived by her son, John (Laurie) Richey of Tiffin; daughters, Michelle (Greg) Fritsch of Berkey, Ohio and Cheryl (Dan) McKenrick of Montrose, CO; brothers, Frank (Becky) Shoemaker of Arlington, TX, Richard (Deb) Shoemaker of Streetsboro, Ohio, Paul (Bridget) Shoemaker of Tiffin and Tom (Paula) Melroy of Benton, Ohio; sisters, Tracy L. Shoemaker of Tiffin, Nancy Justice of Galion, Elaine Heitzman of Galion and Jean Randolph of Bucyrus; brother-in-law, Larry Daiber of North Robinson, Ohio; and two grandchildren, Nathan Richey and Brianna (Pat) McMahon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Franklin J. Shoemaker; and sisters, Barbara Hickman and Mary Daiber.

Sharon was a member at Faith United Methodist Church and the former Washington Street United Methodist Church where she enjoyed volunteering and planning fundraisers and participating in women's groups.  Sharon loved crocheting.  She gifted many blankets to loved ones and donated over 150 lap blankets for local nursing homes. She retired from Intersil (formerly RCA) and joined a group of coworkers for a weekly lunch date for many years.  She loved many different crafts.  Floral arranging was one of her favorites.  Some of her favorites works were wedding flowers for close friends.   Sharon always wanted things to be done correctly.  If you were helping her with a task, she made sure you were doing it the right (her) way.  Her biggest love was her family.  Life wasn't always easy but she loved her family through it all.  She felt her biggest accomplishments was raising her three children and having  all three of them graduate from collage after not being able to do so herself.

Her Funeral Service will be at 11:30 A.M. on Wednesday, March 05, 2025 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio, (419)447-2424 with Pastor Amy Vittorio officiating.
