Steven L. Bakies, 52, of Tiffin, passed away Thursday evening, November 18, 2010 in the Emergency Room at Mercy Tiffin Hospital.

The son of Richard and Patricia (Berry) Bakies, he was born on September 27, 1958 in Willard. He married Marcia Breidenbach on September 28, 2001.

Survivors include sons, Craig Bakies of Fort Rucker, AL; Mitchell Bakies of Columbus, stationed at Wright-Patterson Air-Force Base; Daniel Reinbolt stationed at Camp LeJune, on assignment in Afghanistan; Christian Reinbolt of Tiffin; daughters, Jennifer Bakies of Norwalk; Monica Reinbolt of Tiffin; Ranyi Li of Shanghi, China; and 5 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a 1976 graduate of Tiffin Columbian High School. Steve worked for Atlas Crankshaft, a General Manager at several area restaurants in Northwest Ohio, and most recently, owned the Bakies Drive Thru in Willard. He was a member of the Tiffin Am Vets and Moose. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, music, playing guitar, member of many bands, liked to DJ events, was a The Ohio State University fan and loved all of the Cleveland teams. Steve was a pitcher in high school and was invited to try out for the Philadelphia Phillies.

A Mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at 10:30 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family on Monday, November 22, 2010 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory.

Memorial contributions may be to a charity of the donor's choice.
