Obituary

Thomas F. 'Tom' Bell, 80, of Tiffin, died Friday, August 14, 2009 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg.

On July 7, 1929 he was born to Francis T. and Henrietta (Wagner) Bell in Tiffin. On November 6, 1951 he married JoAnne Hudson and she preceded him in death. On February 16, 1985 he married Behy J. Miles and she also preceded him in death.

Survivors include, two daughters, Mary Ann Gurney and fiancAC. Donald Holtvoight of Findlay, Josine Marie Bell of Mansfield, two sons, David Bell of Tiffin and Paul Bell of Palmor, Alaska, three step-daughters, Sue Hedrick of Bascom, Barbara (David) Hartsel of Tiffin, Rose (Steve) Bugner of Fostoria; one step-son, Peter Miles of Spartansburg, SC; two brothers Bernard (Josephine) Bell and John (Connie) Bell, both of Tiffin; one sister, Mary Ann (Jim) Saad of Grosse Pointe, MI; seventeen grandchildren, Matt Gurney, Ryan Gurney, Amber, Christopher, Tommy, Talitha, Tyler, Nicole, Stephanie Bell, step-grandchilren, Jenni Clinger, Jacki Roper, Brad, Brent Hedrick, Lori Bentz, Tricia DelTurco, Angie Sheets, Becky Bugner; sixteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Preceding him in death are his parents, both wives, grandchild Joseph Allen Bell, and great-grandchild, Miles Roper.

Tom was a 1947 Tiffin Calvert High School graduate. He served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956. Tom worked at National Machinery for 30 years and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. He was also a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin Moose Lodge #846, and former member of Tiffin Eagles Aerie #402. He volunteered at many local organizations, such as the Soup Kitchen, Community Hospice Care, and Meals on Wheels. Tom enjoyed traveling around the world, camping, gambling, fishing on the lake and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial will be 11am, Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at St. Mary Catholic Church, with Rev. Gary Walters officiating. The rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to the Mass. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, with Military Graveside Services conducted by the United Veterans Council.

Friends may visit with the family from 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Monday, August 17, 2009 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH 44883, (419) 447-2424. A Christian wake service will be at 1:30pm at the funeral home. The Quarter Century Club will meet in body at 7:45pm.
