Thomas E. “Tom” Helms, 81, of Tiffin, passed away on October 28, 2026 at the VA Ann Arbor Health Care.

He was born on August 24, 1945, in Hutchenson, Kansas, to Forrest and Joyce (Hovis) Helms. On August 20, 1977, he married Patricia Thomas and they later divorced.

Survivors include his ex-wife, Patricia Thomas of Tiffin; sons, Raymond Helms and Thomas P. (Dennisa) Helms, both of Tiffin; daughter, Nikki (David) Shetzer of Tiffin; sister, Linda Souders of Fostoria; sister-in-law, Lynn Helms of Fostoria; brother-in-law, Ron Frankfurther of Fostoria; five grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Steve Helms and Kerry Helms; and sister, Kristine Frankfurther.

Tom served in the United States Army, during the Vietnam War from April 20, 1964 to April 19, 1967. He was a dedicated truckdriver, was an Ohio State Buckeye and Cleveland Browns fan, enjoyed gambling, 4-wheeling and loved his Rottweiler’s and his family.

There will not be any services.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
