Thomas C. Hoover, 70, of Tiffin, passed away Monday evening, March 17, 2014 in the Emergency Room at Mercy Tiffin Hospital.
He was born on July 21, 1943, in Sandusky, Ohio, to Donald and Elva D. (Sullivan) Hoover. On May 15, 1962, he married Diane J. Robinson.
Survivors include his wife, Diane; son, Jeffrey (Millissa) Hoover of Tiffin; 2 daughters, Staci Hoover of Fostoria and Julie Hoover Mellini of Tiffin; 3 sisters, Sandra Hoover and Sharon Kaufman, both of CA and Marcy (Tom) Bishop of Tiffin; 3 brothers, Lance (Deb) Kaufman of Bettsville, Paul Hoover of Kentucky and John Hoover of Tiffin; step-mother, Karen (Dwight) Moyer; 3 grandchildren, Dane (Sonia) Riedel and Ciara (Travis) Quillen, both of Tiffin and Shane Hoover of Rhode Island; and 11 great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents and his brother, Donald J. Hoover, Jr.
Thomas graduated from Tiffin University in 1975. He was in the United States Navy during Vietnam from 1961 to 1964. While on U.S.S. Kitty Hawk, he got to meet President John F. Kennedy. He was a Tiffin Police Officer for 12 years and was an E.M.T. for 12 years and was a life member of the V.F.W. Tiffin Post #2858 and AmVets Post 48. He was also a member of the D.A.V. and the American Legion Post #169. Thomas was the owner of Seneca Outdoor Repair, loved to do small engine repair and enjoyed bowling, crafts and hobbies.
His Celebration of Life dinner will be at 4:30 P.M. on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Grace Pentecostal Church, 235 Third Ave., Tiffin, Ohio 44883 . There will be no burial at this time. Military honors will be conducted by the United Veterans Council at the funeral home at 3:45 P.M.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 2-4:00 P.M. at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the family in care of Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home.
