Thomas J. "Tom" Fredritz, 65, of Tiffin, passed away Friday evening, December 12, 2014 at Mercy Tiffin Hospital.
He was born on July 30, 1949, in Tiffin, Ohio, to Howard J. and Agnes M. (Ariza) Fredritz. On April 7, 1972, he married Carol Heyman.
Survivors include his wife, Carol of Tiffin; 3 sons, Eric (Candie) Fredritz of Kent, CT, Mike (Denise) Fredritz of Bloomville and Brian Fredritz of Tiffin; 4 brothers, Donnie W. (Janet) Fredritz of Cleveland, Joe C. (Sandy) Fredritz, Bob H. (Marsha) Fredritz and Eddie J. (Dolores) Fredritz, all of Carey; 5 sisters, Norma R. (Howard) Fox of Millfield, Martha A. Weinandy of Carey, Teresa A. (Dan) Smith of Tiffin, Donna M. (Tom) Bouillon of New Reigel and Debra S. Rall of Upper Sandusky; and 5 grandchildren, Tyler, Brady, Carlene, Coy and Clayton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Earl Weinandy.
Tom was the oldest of ten children and while living at home he helped on the family farm. He graduated in 1968 from Carey High School and served in the United States Army, stationed in Greece, from 1968 to 1970. He worked at Toledo Mold and Die in Carey and in 2010 retired from Toledo Mold and Die in Tiffin. He was a member of the American Legion in Carey and enjoyed, NASCAR, bowling, fishing, the outdoors, gardening and hunting; especially deer. Tom also enjoyed restoring and collecting antique Farmall tractors and could fix everything. He enjoyed spending time with his family and never missed a grandkids baseball game.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, December 19, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. The Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to the Mass. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the United Veterans Council.
Friends may visit with the family from 1-3:00 P.M. and 5-8:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424. A Christian Wake Service will begin at 4:45 P.M.
