Thomas J. “Tom” Phillips, 66, of Tiffin, passed away on Friday, April 03, 2026 at St. Francis Home.
He was born on May 06, 1959, in Tiffin, Ohio, to James A. and Patricia E. (Turner) Phillips. On August 04, 1984, he married Diane Schostek and they later divorced.
He is survived by his son, Greg (fiancé, Morgan DeSmith) Phillips of Tiffin; sisters, Susan Phillips, Mary (Bill) Cook, Anne (Jack) Distel, Julie (Ron) Hersh and Lori Hoppes, all of Tiffin; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Steven Phillips.
Tom graduated in 1977 from Calvert High School. He was the third generation owner of Phillips Electric for many years and was an active member of several organizations, including, St. Joseph Catholic Church, AmVets Post 48, VFW Post 2858, American Legion Post 169 and New Riegel Moose Lodge 872. Tom coached Little League baseball for many years and enjoyed watching many sports including baseball, football, and golf. Horse racing was also a favorite of his. Golfing was one of his favorite pastimes, especially at Seneca Hills and Clinton Heights golf courses. He was also a team member of the 1976 Cavert golf team that won the State golf championship that year. He had many friends and enjoyed spending time with them, often sharing drinks and good conversation. Tom will be remembered most for his compassion, generosity, and love of helping those in need.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, April 17. 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Anthony Coci officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life will be at 12:00 Noon on Friday, April 17, 2026 at the AmVets, 1909 S. SR Route 100, Tiffin, Ohio 44883.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Home, St. Joseph Catholic Church or to Heartland Hospice.
