Urban H. Magers, 77, of Tiffin, died Saturday, October 25, 2008, at home.
On November 25, 1930, he was born in Tiffin, to Harold and Lavina (Clouse) Magers. On September 10, 1950, he married Alice Seifert in St. Mary Catholic Church, she died on July 10, 1975. He later married Anna Bair on May 20,1977, she died in June of 2002.
Survivors include two sons, Ronald (Angie) Magers of Ottawa Lake, MI, Tim (Dana) Magers of West Brook, TX, five daughters, Phyllis Magers of Columbus, OH, Cynthia (Walt) Carter of Easley, SC, Virginia Fisher of San Antonio, TX, Barbara (Steve) Moyer of Heath, OH, Cheryl (Jeff) Tomlin of Amherst, VA, a step-son, Daniel Miller of Portland, OR, two brothers, Donald Magers of West Laffeyete, IN, Larry Magers of Georgia; two sisters, Helen Bloom and Theresa (Donald) Shofstahl, both of Tiffin; seventeen grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death, along with his parents and both wives, are two sons, Anthony and Richard Magers, one brother, Wilbur Magers, Sr., and one sister, Alma Bean.
Urban was a 1948 graduate of Calvert High School. He attended St. Mary Catholic Church. Urban was a truck driver for over 22 years for J. W. Humbert Trucking in Green Springs. He was a member of Moose Lodge #846 in Tiffin, he was a member of D.F.S.V. Post #202 in Green Springs, where he also served as president for three years. He was also president of Teamsters Retirees for eight years.
A funeral service will be 10 AM, Wednesday, October 29, 2008, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. Burial will follow in Seneca Memory Garden.
Friends may visit with the family, 5-8 PM, Tuesday, October 28, 2008, at the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family one hour prior to the service on Wednesday, October 29, 2008, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to F.A.C.T. or to Community Hospice Care.
