Urban A. Seifert, 81, of Sandusky, Ohio, passed away Tuesday morning, May 13, 2014 at the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky.
He was born on April 28, 1933, in Seneca County, to Oswald E. and Agnes O. (Wagner) Seifert.
Survivors include 5 brothers, William G. (Nancy) Seifert of Bloomville, Thomas G. (Shirley) Seifert of New London, Robert E. Seifert of Tiffin, Louis P. (Beverly) Seifert of Newnan, GA and David V. Seifert Thermopolis, Wyoming; 2 sisters, Helen Vadala of Tiffin and Ruth Woods of Richmond, VA; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers, Albert O. Seifert, John J. Seifert, Oswald E. Seifert, Jr. and Harold J. Seifert; and 5 sisters, Margaret Kinn, Delores Szablewski, Mary Kirkwood, Dorothy Magers and Alice Magers.
Urban graduated in 1951 from McCutchenville High School and served in the United States Army from April 16, 1953 to March 9, 1955 during the Korean Conflict. He worked for Donald Derr Farms for many years, was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the V.F.W. Post 6067, Green Springs and had resided at the United Veterans Home since 1989. Urban enjoyed playing bingo and being outdoors.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, May 16, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the United Veterans Council.
Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice and Stein Hospice.
