Vanetta T. Theis, 87, formerly of New Riegel, passed away Wednesday evening, October 27, 2010, at Independence House, Fostoria.

She was born February 9, 1923, in Seneca County, to Henry J. and Eleanora (Wagner) Schalk. She married Alvin Theis February 8, 1947, in St. Boniface Catholic Church, New Riegel.

Survivors include four sons, Robert E. (Nancy) Theis of Fostoria, Joseph A. (Rebecca) Theis, both of Fostoria, Steven F. (Patricia) Theis of Tiffin, and David G. (Penny) Theis of New Riegel; a brother, Francis P. (Angie) Schalk, of New Riegel; sister-in-law, Ann Schalk of New Riegel; 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death along with her parents and husband, Alvin, on May 8, 1996, are two daughters, Virginia M. Theis and Marlene A. Hartman; a sister and brother-in-law, Erma and Floyd Kinn; and a brother, Robert H. Schalk.

Vanetta was a 1941 graduate of New Riegel High School and a member of All Saints Parish, the Rosary Altar Society and Catholic Knights of Ohio.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM, Monday, November 1, 2010, at All Saints Parish, New Riegel, with Rev. Randy Giesige officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 15 minutes prior to the Mass. Burial will follow in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, New Riegel.
