Vern E. Holcomb, 83, of Tiffin, passed away on Wednesday evening, December 11, 2013 at Volunteers of America Autumnwood Care Center.


He was born on June 5, 1930, in Tiffin, Ohio, to Vern E. and Pauline (Sanders) Holcomb and they preceded him in death.


A lifelong Tiffin resident, Korean War Veteran, and a man that walked everywhere. Vern having never married with any children lived his life alone yet walked to a steady pace of his own free will. A daily visitor to the Commission on Aging for lunch, he walked. Frequent trips to the river, he walked. From one cornerstone to another, he walked. Not a fan of current television, he would much rather spend his time walking. With a sound mind and once able body, he would choose to walk wherever, whenever he could. Vern has taken his last walk through the streets, alleys and sidewalks of his hometown and will now walk in heaven where he will no longer be alone. There will be no service to attend but if you knew him please simply remember him the next time you take a walk.
