Vincent E. Arnold, 92, of Tiffin, passed away at his home, Monday morning, June 25, 2012.
On January 10, 1920 in New Riegel, he was born to Marion "Earl" and Emma (Gessner) Arnold. He married Eleanor Caroline Fitzgerald on May 23, 1942.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Eleanor; three sons, John (Judy) Arnold , Willis "Bill" Arnold and Gary (Sandra) Arnold all of Tiffin; four daughters, Diana (John) Pasko-Patterson of Old Fort, Denise (Stephen) Lawson of Bloomville, Melody (Rex) Woessner of Tiffin and Jill (Kenneth) Kubasek of Mansfield; three brothers, Gerald (Helen) Arnold of Port Clinton, Brian Arnold of Tiffin and Bernard Arnold of Bucyrus; four sisters, Helen Gilliland of Michigan, Joyce (David) Waldron and Brenda (Robert) Bullock both of Fostoria and LaDonna Smiley of Tennessee; 17 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Agnes Grove-Arnold; great granddaughter, Kayla Lucius in 2010; brothers, John Wayne Arnold, John Lindbergh Arnold, Robert Arnold, Lewis Arnold and Albert Grove; five sisters, Margaret Williams, Anna Rose "Betty" Scherger, Marcella Winkler, Delores Arnold and infant sister Mary Arnold; and son-in-law, Jim Pasko.
Vincent was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday school and was a past trustee. He met his wife at Canteen and together they started Arnold Vending in the basement of their home in 1948. Together they raised a family and worked hard at their business. In 1966 they moved the business to the Miami St. location where Vincent was active until 2002. He enjoyed time with his family, reunions, and his marriage to Eleanor. They celebrated their 70th anniversary together in May at the farm in Old Fort where Eleanor was raised. He was a member of United Commercial Travelers and Tiffin Eagles Club.
His funeral service will be Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 10:00 AM at St. Paul's United Methodist Church with Rev. Gary Hicks officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Union Cemetery in Old Fort.
Friends may visit and share stories on Friday, June 29, 2012 from 4-8 PM at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory and on Saturday from 9-10 at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Community Hospice Care or the Alzheimer's Association.
