Obituary

Vincent Vera, 89, passed away Friday morning, November 1, 2013 at Mercy Tiffin Hospital.

He was born on April 5, 1924, in Houston, TX, to Jose and Clara (Medina) Vera. On July 3, 1944, he married Guadalupe "Lara" Vera and she preceded him in death on August 19, 2009.

Survivors include his son, David (Susan) Vera, of Carey; 6 daughters, Lupe (John Ricci) Rodriguez, Gloria (Bob) Hayes, Susan (Jim) Schock and Josie (Jon) Nutter, all of Tiffin, Alice (Dave) Keefe of New Riegel and Martha (Jerry) Boehler of Perrysburg; 5 sisters, Ruthie Lozano, of Houston TX, Josie (Israel) Valdez of Harlingen, TX, Eva (Robert) Powell and Caroline (Jim) Schryer, both of Florida and Carmen (Dick) Kuhn of Tiffin; sister-in-law, Marie Vera; 28 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and 4 great, great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lupe (Lara) in 2009, son, Bobby in 2001; daughter, Virginia in 1965; 2 infant daughters, Lupe and Clara; brother, Joe Vera in 2013; and 2 sisters, Mary Burlile and Clara Carroll.

Vincent was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and retired in 1988, after 43 years, from Webster Industries. He enjoyed walking, biking, gardening, watching Andy Griffith, horseshoes, playing cards and loved animals; especially feeding squirrels and birds. Vincent also enjoyed going on vacations to visit family and loved holidays and birthdays with his family.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, November 4, 2013 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Gary Walters officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to the service.

Friends may visit with the family from 2-6:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 3, 2013 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424. A Christian Wake Service will begin at 1:30 P.M.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church or the Humane Society of Seneca County.
