Viola M. Hoerig, 88, of Tiffin, passed away Sunday evening, May 1, 2011 at her home.

She was born July 6, 1922, in Tiffin, to Benjamin H. and Inez L. (Parks) Baugher. She married Melvin E. Hoerig, they later divorced.

Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis M. Adelsperger and Patricia J. (Hugh) Rathburn both of Tiffin; son, Mark A. (Peg) Hoerig also of Tiffin; six grand children; Tami Zellner, Laura Magers, Steven Adelsperger, Brad and Doug Rathburn, Matthew Hoerig; 7 great grandchildren and an expected great granddaughter in June.

She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter Prudence Rodgers.

Viola was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church and a 1940 graduate of Columbian High School. She worked at Tiffin Developmental Center as an account clerk, retiring in 1989. She was a 50 yr. member of Order of Eastern Star Tiffin Chapter 189. Viola enjoyed family time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren; dining out, socializing with friends, and baking Christmas sweets.

Her funeral will begin at 11 am. Thursday, May 5, 2011, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S Washington St. Tiffin, Oh 44883, (419) 447-2424, with Rev. Donna Van Trees officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel South Bend Cemetery in McCuthenville.

Friends may visit with the family from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at the funeral home, or 10-11 am. Thursday prior to the service.
