Wouter Reinier deVlugt, 53 of Tiffin, died unexpectedly Friday evening, October 26th, 2012, at his home.
He was born October 4th, 1959 in The Hague, Netherlands to Willem F. and Yvonne I. deVlugt. Sponsored by Axe Memorial United Methodist Church in Garland, Texas, the deVlugt family immigrated to the United States in 1961.
He married Debra Jean King on November 30th, 1985; she survives. Also surviving are his parents and his two children, a son Seth (Jacqueline) of Columbus, OH, and a daughter Nicole of Miami, FL. He is also survived by a brother Charles deVlugt of Orlando FL, and a sister Mimi (John) Garth of Jupiter, FL.
Walter and family moved to Tiffin in 1996 to live and work at Kingland Farms. Prior to moving to Tiffin, he was a controller for the accounting firm, Travis Wolff, Dallas. Walter faithfully served many years as the Board Chairman of Hopewell Church of God. He was an active supporter of Hopewell-Loudon Schools, Seneca County Farm Bureau, and local 4-H. Many people knew Walter by his brightly colored Hawaiian shirts, booming voice, and his love for his German Shepherd, Reggie.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 1, 2012 from 3-8pm at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424.
A memorial service will be held Friday, November 2, 2012 at 2pm at Hopewell Church of God, 3542 W. Co. Rd. 48, Tiffin.
Memorials may be made to Seneca County 4-H Foundation, Hopewell Church of God, or Axe Memorial United Methodist, Garland, Texas.
