Walter A. Schriner, 76, of Tiffin, died Thursday morning, October 16, 2008, at Volunteers of America Autumnwood Care Center.
November 25, 1931, he was born in Attica, to Albert and Clara (Daniel) Schriner. October 26, 1963, he married Martha Reinbolt in St. Mary Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Martha, a son, Mark (Donna) Schriner of Republic, a daughter, Karen (Warren) Long of Findlay, a brother, Ronald (Mary) Schriner of Tiffin, a sister, Ruth (Leo) Seasley of Republic, a sister-in-law, Jackie Schriner of Huron, 3 grandchildren, Joshua, Michaela and Erin Long, 3 step-grandchildren and 5 step-great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death along with his parents is a brother, Herbert Schriner.
Walt graduated in 1950 from Attica High School and was an operator for Conrail for over 38 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin Moose Lodge 846 and the Mad River Rail Road Society. He traveled all 49 states by train, enjoyed playing harmonica, cards and euchre. He lived in Dundee, FL, for 13 years working at a thrift shop with his wife, and enjoyed people.
His Funeral Mass is 10:00 AM, Monday, October 20, 2008, at St. Mary Catholic Church, with Rev. Eric Culler officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 15 minutes prior to the Mass. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family 4-7 PM, Sunday, October 19, 2008 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH, 44883, 419-447-2424. A Christian Wake service will be 6:45 PM.
