Obituary

Warren W. Smith, 91, of Tiffin, passed away Sunday morning, April 28, 2013 at Volunteers of America Autumnwood Care Center.

He was born on July 3, 1921, in Cootes Store, Virginia, to Wade H. and C. Pearl (Dillard) Smith. On July 3, 1942, in Tiffin, OH, he married Clara L. "Judy" Myers and she preceded him in death in 1999.

Survivors include his son, Steve W. (Linda) Smith of Tiffin; 2 daughters, Janice A. (Gene) Zavrel of Perrysburg and Sharon S. (Barry) Jerman of Tiffin; brother, Robert Smith of Tiffin; sister, Virginia Huffman of Tiffin; 4 grandchildren, Michael W. (Susan) Degens, Jennifer (Jeremy) Richardson, Kara (Dustin) Kraus and Danielle Smith; and 7 great-grandchildren, Hayden Klett, Haley Degens, Jacob Richardson, Morgan Klett, Alexa Richardson, Alex Kraus and Ava Kraus.

Also preceding him in death were his parents; 2 brothers, Owen and Donald Smith; and 2 sisters, Ruth Smith and Arlene Kummerer.

Warren was a member of the 11th Armored Division of the United States Army during World War II from October 17, 1942 to December 28, 1945. In 1980, he retired from the State Hospital as the head of maintenance. He enjoyed fishing and softball and was the pony league coach for the Webster Mfg. team. He was a Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians and an Ohio State Buckeye fan. Locally, he was a Tiffin Columbian Tornado's fan. Warren was a family man; beloved father, cherished grandfather and patriarch of his family. He was a hero to his family and a friend to everyone.

A Funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, May 3, 2013 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424, with Rev. Ray Richardson officiating. Entombment will follow in Seneca Memory Gardens.

Friends may visit and share stories with the family from 3-7:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Volunteers of America Autumnwood Care Center, Community Hospice Care or Tiffin Columbian Athletic Boosters.
