Obituary

Wayne A. Brickner, 74, of rural Tiffin, died Wednesday afternoon, September 24, 2008, at Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.

On March 18, 1934, he was born in Tiffin to Anthony and Corine (Nye) Brickner. On May 30, 1959, he married Jean Podach in St. Wendelin Church.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Jean, four sons, Jeffrey (Becky) Brickner of Fredericksburg, TX, Scott (Cathy) Brickner, Dennis (Carol) Brickner, Rocky (Dee Dee) Brickner, all of rural Tiffin, three sisters Mary Eloise (Florian) Frankart of Fostoria, Leila (Gilbert) Wurm of Bloomville, Arlene Reinhart of Tiffin, twelve grandchildren, Savannah, Samantha, Tony, Katie, Tim, Tom, Ethan and Chance Brickner, Ricky (Lisa) Bustillos, Randy (Amy) Bustillos, Joe Bustillos and Lauren Trumpler and nine great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death along with his parents is a brother-in-law, Paul Reinhart.

Wayne was a member of St. Andrew Church and a lifelong farmer. He drove school bus for 25 years at Hopewell Loudon School and worked the 'chain gang' for many years. He enjoyed hunting, bowling, golf, playing cards and watching the Browns, Indians and Buckeyes. He was a fan of his children's and grandchildren's sports teams. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Fraternal Order of Eagles #402, Fostoria United Sportsmen and a former board member of the Bascom Elevator.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM, Monday September 29, 2008, at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Bascom, with Rev. Art Niewiadomski officiating. Burial will follow in St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family 2-8 PM, Sunday, September 28, 2008, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH, 44883, 419-447-2424. A Christian wake service will be 8:00 PM.

Memorial contributions can be made to FACT, Community Hospice Care or St. Andrew Catholic Church.
