Willard W. "Woody" Wilkins, 93, of Tiffin, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 2, 2015 at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky.
He was born on March 22, 1921 in Woodstock, VA to Frank and Margaret (Brill) Wilkins. On September 8, 1951, he married Wilma Magrum, and she preceded him in death on November 16, 2011.
Survivors include two sons, Bill (Linda) Wilkins of Bowling Green, and David (Sally) Wilkins of Maumee; daughter, Susan Wajert of Toledo; one brother, Oscar (Alice) Wilkins of Austin, TX; seven grandchildren: Brian, Stephen, Kevin, Jonathan, Jeremy, Jason and Stephanie; and five great-grandchildren, Kale, Carson, Calista, Emy Jane, and Milo.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Charles, Clarence, Robert, Clifton, James, and Elmer; and sister, Betty Campbell.
Enlisting in the Army on July 25, 1942, Woody served for four years and was honorably discharged on January 24, 1946. During the Korean War, he re-enlisted in the United States Air Force and served from November 27, 1950 until October 28, 1953. After the war, Woody worked as a production line worker at American Standard retiring in 1980. He was a member of the Tiffin Moose Lodge #846, the AmVets Post #48, and in his younger years, he enjoyed roller skating, playing Euchre, dancing, hunting, and traveling with Wilma to Florida during the winter. Most recently, he enjoyed meeting his buddies at Burger King.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Kishore Kottana officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to the Mass. Military honors will be conducted by the United Veterans Council at the end of Mass. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family from 3-8:00 P.M. on Friday, February 6, 2015 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424. A Christian Wake Service will begin at 8:00 P.M.
