Beloved husband, father and grandfather, William T. "Bill" Rohrbach, 76, of Tiffin, passed away Wednesday evening, January 23, 2013 in St. Rita Hospital, Lima.
He was born on January 24, 1936 in Tiffin, Ohio to Henry R. and Clara (Miller) Rohrbach. In June of 1956 he married Melba Keiffer. They later divorced and she preceded him in death on January 24, 1970. On December 16, 1963, in Monroe, MI, he married Sue Elaine Smith and she preceded him in death on February 5, 2004.
Survivors include son, Alex J. Rohrbach of Tiffin; 3 daughters, Michele (Don) Brown of Napoleon, and Melissa (Rick) Jameson and Melinda Roof, both of Tiffin; 12 grandchildren, Shannon (Nick) Bowman, Bailey and Luke Jameson, Alexa and Michael Rohrbach, twins, Andrew and Danielle Rohrbach, and Beth Roof, all of Tiffin, and Greg (Lisa) Brown and Laurie (Chris) Imhoof, both of Napoleon, Brian Brown of California, and Dylan (Sarah) Brown of Columbus; and 9 great-grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were his parents; son, Eric E. Rohrbach on January 14 2009; and 3 brothers, Charles, Robert and Eugene Rohrbach.
Bill graduated in 1954 from Calvert High School and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. While in high school during the 1953-1954 basketball season he scored 54 points during one game; which is currently the most points scored in one game. He had 691 points that season and 1,530 points for his career; which was the most varsity career points ever scored. He was a member of the bricklayers Local #46 for over 50 years and was owner and operator of Charlie's Cycle Sales in Tiffin for more than 25 years. He also was a member of the Amvets Post 48, Eagles Club #402 and the Sportsman Club in Fostoria. He was an instructor for Lake Erie #46 Apprenticeship Program from 1988 to 2003 and was also an Eagle Scout. Bill was famous for his sauerkraut and enjoyed gardening, watching his grandkids sporting events and was a pet lover; he especially loved his cats.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, January 28, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to the Mass.
Friends may visit with the family from 2-8:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 27, 2013 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424. A Christian Wake Service will begin at 8:00 P.M.
Memorial contributions may be made to Calvert Catholic Schools or the Humane Society of Seneca County.
