William R. Tracewell, 91, of Tiffin, passed away on Monday afternoon, June 29, 2015 at St. Francis Home.
He was born on July 12, 1923, in Tiffin, Ohio, to Edward Roy and Lelia (Downey) Tracewell. On January 5, 1946, he married Frances Currie.
Survivors include Frances, his wife of 69 years; son, William Tracewell, Jr. of Cincinnati; three daughters, Victoria (Husnu) Kalkanoglu of Swarthmore, PA, Tracey Jo (Joseph) Kolenda of Douglassville, PA and Christena "Tracey" Innis of Tiffin; ten grandchildren; one great grandchild; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Downey Tracewell; and two sisters, Christine Ross and Leona Ruhlen.
William graduated from Tiffin Columbian High School in 1941, attended Heidelberg College and graduated from The Ohio State University. He served in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II and was stationed at Douglas Army Base in Arizona. Bill worked for the IRS for 30 years as an Enrolled Agent and Director of Training in Marion, OH, Detroit, MI and Cincinnati, OH. After retiring, he and Fran moved to St. Marys, OH where he worked at Wright State University Lake Campus as a teacher, and for the Small Business Administration. He also had his own tax business. Bill loved to work, read the paper, and spend time with his family and pets.
There will be no visitation or service at this time.
Memorial contributions may be made to Stein Hospice or to a charity of the donor's choice.
