Albert Latona, 86, of Tiffin, passed away on Monday, December 28, 2020 at St. Francis Home after a 5 year battle with Lewy Bodies Dementia.
He was born on March 10, 1934, in Tiffin, Ohio, to Antonio and Francesca (Martorana) Latona. On May 9, 1959, he married Diane S. Kistler and she preceded him in death on May 27, 2018.
Survivors include his daughters, Fran (Jeff) Tammarine of Liberty Center, Mary Latona and Carla Kilgore, both of Tiffin; sons, Tony (Lucy Castilleja) Latona and Rusty (Lesa) Latona, both of Tiffin; grandchildren, Matthew (Jenna) and Dominic Tammarine, Mike and Justin Latona, Adam, Samantha and Aleah Kilgore and Dominic and Anna Latona; great grandchildren, Blake, Vinny and Kennedy Tammarine and Lillian Halcomb; sister, Joanna Borer of Tiffin; and brother-in-law, Jerry Kistler of Florida.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Albert Latona, Jr.; and sister, Mary Panuto.
Albert graduated from Tiffin Calvert High School in 1952 and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked at Whirlpool in Clyde for 40 years, retiring in 1996 and also cleaned Westgate Shopping Center for 45 years.
Albert was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the AmVets. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians, Chicago Bears and Notre Dame and loved gardening and cooking.
His Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Matthew Radar officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 30 minutes prior to Mass. The Mass will be livestreamed at https://www.stmarychurch.com. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be private.
