Arleen M. (Nye) Elchert

Arleen M. Elchert, 94, of Tiffin, passed away Saturday morning, November 26, 2022, at her home surrounded by family.

On December 17, 1927, in Tiffin, she was born to Russel and Mildred (Schmidutz) Nye and married Thomas Elchert, Sr. on November 25, 1948, in St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Survivors include a son, Gregory Elchert of Tiffin; daughters, Teresa Moore and Vicki Sturgill Connor both of Tiffin; daughters in law, Deborah Elchert of Apache Junction, AZ; Suzanne (Jim) Black of Tiffin; eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Thomas in 1979; sons, Thomas Elchert, Jr. in 1982 and Michael Elchert in 2021; brother, Dale R. Nye; sisters, Doris “Dolly” Luidhardt, Shirley Samsel and a great grandchild.

Arleen was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and a 1946 graduate of Tiffin Columbian High School.  She worked at General Electric for years, enjoyed playing cards, especially Euchre and Rummy, doing word search puzzles, yardwork and being at home.  Most of all she loved being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. 

Her funeral will be Thursday, December 1, 2022, at 12:00 Noon with Rev. Matthew Rader officiating at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory.  Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family on Thursday from 10-12 at the funeral home prior to the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, an area dialysis center or lung treatment center.
