Cherie Elizabeth Nichols, 81, of Tiffin, passed away on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at The Willows at Tiffin.
She was born on March 4, 1940, in Tiffin, Ohio, to Luther and Mabel (Wright) Cook. On August 26, 1966, she married Robert “Bob” Nichols.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Robert Nichols of Tiffin; children, Beth (Greg) Weber of Tiffin, Rick (Heidi) Martin of Indianapolis, IN, Christyne (Jim) Knisely of Green Springs, Gail (Ron) Harrah of Stevensville, MI and R. Scot (Abigail) Nichols of Jefferson City, MO; 17 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Kenneth “Skip” Martin; brother, Robert Nelson Cook; and infant sister, Virginia Cook.
Cherie was a member of Hopewell Church of God, a 1958 graduate of Tiffin Columbian High School and attended, Heidelberg College, Ohio State University and Bowling Green State University earning her Masters’ degrees. She taught at Old Fort for one year, Findlay High School for one year and then retired from Fostoria City Schools where she taught Spanish, English and reading to 6th, 7th and 8th graders. Cherie was a member of AAUW and Seneca Co. Retired Teachers. She enjoyed singing, playing the piano, playing cards (Pinochle and Euchre) as well as traveling around the U.S. with Bob, and spending time with her family. Cherie and Bob spent several years as snowbirds in Harlingen, Texas.
Her Funeral Service will be at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424 with Chaplain Mary Jo Bray officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmont Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family from 5-8:00 P.M. on Friday, August 20, 2021 at the Funeral Home.
