David A. Reinhart, 70, of Bascom, Ohio, died Monday, December 21st, 2020 at Elmwood at The Shawhan of Tiffin.
He was born May 5th, 1950 in Seneca County to Vincent and Cora (Scherger) Reinhart. On September 25th, 1970, he married Kathleen T. Cramer at St Joseph Church in Tiffin.
Survivors include: his wife, Kathleen Reinhart; daughter Stephanie L. (Wayne Harris) Reinhart of Ontario, Ohio; daughter Nicole M. (Mike) Meyer of Amanda, Ohio; three brothers, Roger C. (Jane), Merle A. (Erma), and Thomas E. (Kathy) Reinhart, all of Bascom; two grandchildren: Shawn M. Meyer and Audrey R. Meyer of Amanda, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Cora Reinhart, and brother Paul Reinhart.
Dave was a 1968 graduate of Hopewell-Loudon High School. He retired from Atlas Crankshaft in Fostoria, Ohio, and farmed on the family farm with his brothers. He served on the Bascom Volunteer Fire Department and was a life-long member of All Saints Parish, New Riegel (former member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Bascom).
He had a passion for coaching volleyball. His coaching career started in CYO for St Patrick's in Bascom in 1978. In 1981, he started coaching junior high volleyball. In 1983, he started his 20 year career coaching varsity at Hopewell-Loudon. During this time he won five consecutive state titles from 1997-2001. He continued his passion by building an athletic complex for Blackswamp Volleyball Club. His success continued with numerous national titles over the next ten years. He finished his coaching career at McComb High School from 2013-2015.
A private funeral Mass will be held Saturday, December 26, 2020 at All Saints Catholic Parish in New Riegel, Ohio for the immediate family. Burial will be in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery.
