Deane Edwin Berrier, 89, of Tiffin, passed away on Friday morning, May 26, 2023, at Elmwood At The Shawhan.
He was born on February 13, 1934, in Tiffin, Ohio, to Bruce and Evelyn (Comer) Berrier. On June 16, 1956, he married Gaye L. Hossler and she preceded him in death on March 02, 2018.
Survivors include his children, Steve (Shannon) Berrier of KY, Kelly (Ron) Brickner of Fostoria, Theresa Scherger and Mike (Kelly) Berrier of Tiffin; longtime friend, Jeannie Brickner; siblings, Irene Boos and Jack Berrier; eight grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Jeffrey Berrier; grandson, Dean Berrier; great grandson, David Berrier; sisters, Barbara Haugh, Rosie Schubert and Sandy Cale; and brother, Sonny Berrier.
Dean was proud to have enlisted in the Army and served his country during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and together with his wife, Gaye owned and operated Dean Berrier Excavating for over 50 years. Dean was affiliated with many community and civic groups and was always willing to use his backhoe expertise. He served as a member of the Bascom Lions Club for many years and helped with various projects at Hopewell-Loudon School. Dean was a life member of the Knights of Columbus #406, Tiffin VFW Post 2858, Tiffin Amvets Post 48, Fostoria Sportsman Club and the Fostoria American Legion Post 73 and could usually be found hanging out at the VFW or the Amvets.
His Funeral will be at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, June 02, 2023, at the funeral home with Rev. Matthew Rader officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery with Military Honors being conducted by the United Veterans Council.
