DONALD CARL BALLREICH
Donald Carl Ballreich passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, March 26,2021 at the age of 87.
Donald was born on June 25, 1933, in Tiffin Ohio to Carl and Emma (Bretzloff) Ballreich. He married Marilyn Grace Tuck on July 30, 1955. They had 65 wonderful years together. Marilyn was the love of Don's life and she felt likewise.
Donald is survived by three daughters, Teresa (Andrew) Miller, Lori (John) Wallace and Beth (William) Wexler; seven grandchildren, Ashley (Justin) Woodruff, Leah (Andrew VI) Driver, Michael (Jennifer) Wallace, Bryan Wexler, Lindsey (Jared) Goldman, Andrew (Blair) Wexler, and Bradley (Nikki) Wexler; four great-grandchildren, Layne Woodruff, Ella Woodruff, Andrew Driver VII and Jacob Driver; a sister, Phyllis Reis; sisters-in-law, Martha Ballreich, Dorothy Robey and Janice Howell; and a brother-in-law, Randy (Cindy) Tuck.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Ballreich; brother, Owen Ballreich; and parents, Carl and Emma Ballreich.
Donald graduated from Columbian High School in 1952 and attended Tiffin University until he was drafted at age 19 serving as a Corporal, United States Army in Germany 1953-1955.
Don worked most of his lifetime in the family business, Ballreich Bros., Inc. and learned the importance of work ethic and values. He was passionate about helping to make a quality potato chip.
Donald loved hobbies. As a child he enjoyed motor scooters. In early adulthood he built model airplanes, flying them in competitions across the country. His love of flying led him to achieving a private pilot’s license and earning an instrument rating. Later, Don became interested in classic and antique cars using his skills and talents to complete many restorations.
Don and Marilyn enjoyed traveling with numerous trips to Key West, Las Vegas and antique car tours with family and friends. One highlight was a 6-week trip to Europe in 1972 with Marilyn and his daughters.
Don was a member of various service and social clubs. He was a lifetime member of St. John’s United Church of Christ.
Donald was a loving person, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, always generous and humble. He lived with faith, charm and positivity, as well as having a wonderful sense of humor. Don touched many hearts.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Donald’s life on Sunday, April 4, 2021 6-8 pm and 11 am on Monday, April 5, 2021 with a service at 12 noon. The Rev. Dan Busch and the Rev. Paul Stark will be officiating at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883. Masks required. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the United Veterans Council.
