She was also preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Robert (Evelyn) Schreiner.

Dorothy was a 1948 graduate of Tiffin Calvert High School and in her early years worked in the Circulation Department at the Advertiser-Tribune.  She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she attended Mass daily and was a member of the Altar Rosary Society, served on the Vocations Committee, sang in the funeral choir and volunteered for many other parish activities including outreach to those in need.  Dorothy was also a member of Tiffin Right to Life.

She lived her whole life in the shadow of St Joseph Church, never having moved out of the neighborhood that she loved.  Her life was marked by her faith in God, service to her church, and undying love for her family.

She was a role model of service to family and neighbors.  She enjoyed life-long relationships with childhood friends and school classmates.  She loved family gatherings with Schreiners, Smiths, Kummerers, Schanks, Reiters, Beards.  She loved being “Aunt Dot” to her many nieces and nephews and she especially loved being “Oma” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was humble in her own accomplishments and taught that humility to her son’s and grandchildren in their successes.  She faithfully attended school and sporting events, encouraging her children and grandchildren to do their best.  She was a great cook, baker, and candy-maker, and found joy in feeding others and sharing generously.

She was a caregiver to her parents and her husband, and was grateful for the care shown her by Carol Siebenaller, Barb Weinandy and the staff at Good Shepherd Assisted Living, Fostoria.
