Dr. Dale W. Griffis

Dr. Dale W. Griffis of Tiffin, 82 years old, Ohio passed away on the morning of February 16th, 2020. He was born on September 13 of 1937 to Kenneth “Dee” and Edith Griffis. Retired from the Tiffin Police Department as Captain, he worked hard and was very proud of his doctorate in psychology. His life’s mission as a police officer was to help people, and his family which was Tiffin, Ohio,  his mission as a father and a husband, father, grandfather, public servant and a friend was to make everyone around him life’s better and make them feel protected and cared about.

He leaves behind a family missing him, and friends wanting to wish to hear from him one more time, wishing they could get one more phone call. His wife of over 60 years, Anne Griffis, daughter of Veronica and Dr. Edmund Ley. The people loving and missing him are his sister, Sonja Stauch, her daughter Annette. His children Lisa, Lynn and Dale. His grandchildren John, Sam Frankart; children of Lynn and  Jim Frankart; Benjamin, Cody and Casie; children of Dale and Coco Griffis, and recently and most importantly, his great grandchild, Colten Frankart ; also known as “the little bugger”.

As time passed and family grew, he was lucky to have his grandchildren add to the family with Raquel, Laura, Sophia, and Alec as well as Lisa’s love Bob. There are many that he would call brothers and sisters, many left hurting at the loss of their friend.

There will be a private interment at Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends and family can gather on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at 10:30 AM for brief reading and remembrance followed by visitation with the family until 1:00 PM at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, 419-447-2424.

The family would request in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Seneca County Humane Society in remembrance of Dale and Anne’s life-long love and companionship of dogs looking for a forever home, or the FOP (Fraternal Order of Police).
