Emma Hoover Obituary

Emma E. Hoover, 92, of Tiffin, passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at St. Francis Home.

She was born on May 10, 1927, in Tiffin, Ohio to Francis and Anna (Clouse) Zoeller.  On November 23, 1944, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, she married Richard J. Hoover who preceded her in death on December 31, 2011.

Survivors include her sons, Larry (Brenda) Hoover of Venice, FL, Gary (Anne) Hoover of Ponte Vedra, FL and John (Cyndy) Hoover of Englewood, FL; daughters, Carol Ritchie of Tiffin, Donna Bare of Tehra, NE, Sharon Schleter of Dublin, Debra (Mark) Theis of Pt. Charlotte, FL and Mary Ann (Bob) Michel of Perrysburg; brothers, Brother Maurus Zoeller of St. Meinrad, IN and Bernard (Jean) Zoeller of Kenton; sister, Marie Breidenbach of Tiffin; 21 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Don Bare; brothers, Elmer, Herman, Ernest, Alfred and Francis, Jr.; and sisters, Wilheminia Smith, Erma Houck, Marcella Zoeller and Dorene Zoeller.

Emma worked at House of Golf selling golf supplies and pool tables.  She was a devoted member of St. Mary Catholic Church, volunteered at St. Francis Home and at the thrift store. Emma and Richard wintered in Florida for 25 years, until 2011 and she enjoyed cooking, sewing, baking, canning, shopping, camping, bicycling, and walking on the beach.  She loved children and her family was her main priority. 

Her Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Matthew R. Rader officiating.  A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass.  Burial will be in Seneca Memory Gardens.

Friends may visit with the family from 4-8:00 P.M. on Friday, January 31, 2020 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Home or to Stein Hospice.
