The life of Ethel L. Schleter, 71, of Tiffin, was cut short Wednesday afternoon, December 9, 2020 from complications of COVID 19.
On April 5, 1949 in Tiffin, she was born to Robert J. and Helen M. (Hoffman) Schaade. She married George “Jack” Schleter on September 19, 1970.
She leaves behind her adoring husband Jack; her loving children, Tina Stover of Gibsonia, PA; Dave (Kristin) Schleter of Lake Charles, LA; Angie Schleter of Tiffin; and eleven cherished grandchildren: Shelby, Brandon, Kara, Courtney, Allie, Zack, Ryan, Benjamin, Evan, Tori, and Connor. She is also survived by siblings, Jerry (Evelyn) Schaade of Somerset, KY; Mike Schaade of Mt. Vernon, OH; Mary Schaade of Tiffin AND Sueanna Tucker of Youngstown. She was preceded in death by her parents, beloved aunts; Annie and Susie, and her brothers; Jim, Bill, Paul and Jack Schaade.
Ethel was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the president of the American Legion Auxiliary POST 169. She grew up in Tiffin and attended both Tiffin Calvert and Columbian High Schools. Although her education was interrupted before graduation, she was extremely proud that she earned her GED later in life. She went on to work at Pioneer Mill Restaurant for over 15 years, advancing to Dining Room Manager and Banquet Coordinator, and later at Brush Wellman in Elmore for several years. She enjoyed crocheting, traveling, camping, shopping, dancing, taking trips to Amish Country, and having a glass of wine with friends and family. And chocolate...she loved chocolate! Ethel and Jack enjoyed 50 amazing years of marriage that resulted in her perfect (in her eyes) children and grandchildren.
