Irma Susanne (Koby) McLaughlin

Irma McLaughlin, a cherished resident of Tiffin, gracefully departed this world on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at the age of 92, surrounded by the warmth of her home. Born in the quaint town of New Riegel to Albert and Rosella Kolby, Irma's journey was one marked by love, family, and resilience.

Her life intertwined beautifully with that of Gerald McLaughlin, her beloved husband of 62 years, who preceded her in passing on January 19th, 2014. Together, they were blessed with five children: Linda Troiano, Mark (Becky) McLaughlin, Timothy (Lori) McLaughlin, Robert McLaughlin, and the late Michael McLaughlin. Irma's heart knew no bounds as a grandmother to eight and a great-grandmother to seventeen.

Family was the cornerstone of Irma's existence, her bond with her brother Ron Kolby enduring throughout the years. In her journey, she bid farewell to her parents, Albert and Rosella, as well as her sisters Mary Jo Haferd and Anna Whitehair, and her son Michael, whose memory she held close alongside that of her lifelong partner, Gerald (Jerry).

Irma attended New Riegel High School, during that time she met Jerry at a dance. After graduation they married, and both worked diligently at General Electric (GE) of Tiffin while building their family. They were proud members of the Moose and Eagles, and loved to dance, play cards and watch the Cleveland Indians/Gaurdians.

Irma was a woman of boundless energy, she stayed busy with gardening, cooking, and spending time with family. Holiday gatherings were a testament to her vibrant spirit, always the last to sit down.

Though Irma may be gone, her legacy of love, laughter, and resilience will forever illuminate the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. In the tapestry of life, she leaves behind a legacy woven with threads of compassion and cherished memories, a testament to a life well-lived and a love that knows no bounds.

May her soul find eternal peace in the loving embrace of the divine, and may her memory be a source of comfort and strength to all who knew and loved her.

Her Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Anthony Coci officiating.  A Rosary will be prayed 30 minutes prior to Mass.  Inurnment will follow in Seneca Memory Gardens.
