James R. “Jim” Hayes, 79, of Findlay and formerly of Tiffin, passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at Brookdale Assisted Living, Findlay.
He was born on January 13, 1941, in Findlay, Ohio, to Harold P and Marilynn J. (Routson) Hayes. In January of 1965, he married Carolyn Grant and they later divorced.
Survivors include his son, James R. “Regie” (Lisa) Hayes, Jr. of Arlington; daughters, Kelly (Scott) Chiow of Vanlue and Stephanie Jarvis of Toledo; brothers, Richard H. (Wendy) Hayes and David L. (Patty) Hayes, both of Toledo; and Patrick (Connie) Hayes of Tiffin; sister, Teresa (Todd) Hayes-Jindra of Hudson; 11 grandchildren, Trevor, Tyson, Taylor, Holly, Curtis, Kyle, Chelsea, Aricka, Chelsey, Caitlin and Zander; 14 great grandchildren; Amyia, Tyson, Kendalyn, Riley, Ali-Mae, Aiden, Adelyn, Landon, Lainey, Braxston, Carter, Deegan, Griffin and Shane; and his ex-wife, Carolyn Hauserman of TN.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Jim graduated in 1959 from Tiffin Calvert High School, from Tiffin University and served in the United States Army in Germany as a Tank Commander from 1959 to 1965. He was a firefighter for Tiffin Fire Department for several years, worked at Excel, General Electric and then had various part-time jobs at local banks in Findlay and then later at Marathon. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and currently at St. Michaels. Jim was a member of Findlay Moose, VFW, American Legion and the DAV, had many friends, was a jokester and enjoyed having coffee with his friends at Denny’s, traveling out West, to Mackinaw Island, Michigan and Arizona.
His Funeral Service will be private and burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
